![]() Are you struggling to breastfeed, in pain and really don't know what to do? It's such a common thing for new mums to experience, it's not always easy and doesn't always just work. I have been lucky enough to connect with Laura Keegan the amazing author of "Breastfeeding with Comfort and Joy". I was amazed by how detailed and captivating this book is, with lovely images of all types of women discovering how they can breastfeed without pain. It's an ebook with 170 full image pages and 9 selected video's and definitely worth the read. As a health professional I am all about women doing what they need to do for themselves, their child and their family. Fed is best in whatever way works for you.
I want to make it clear that I have not been paid for this article and I wasn't asked by anyone for it. I felt this message needed to be put out there. After reading this book I feel like everyone should see these images and explanations on techniques for breastfeeding, I certainly had no idea they existed. Reading this when you're pregnant, is such a great idea so you have this wealth of knowledge to use when you need it and are struggling. Because that's life, some women do struggle and that's ok. This book provides the foundation for learning breastfeeding, primarily visually all in one place, like a child learns to ride a bike. They watch and are inspired by their peers. Laura Keegan is a wife, mother of four and a Family Nurse Practitioner. She has been in clinical practice since 1988, working with breastfeeding moms and their babies her entire career. She says "The creation of Breastfeeding with Comfort and Joy was initiated and has continued to be inspired by my patients and readers, all mothers, saying what they wanted in a breastfeeding book. My patients were so passionate about my use of imagery and my timeless approach to teaching breastfeeding, that they volunteered to be photographed when they came up with the idea and then other moms joined the effort in my community" Many different women, babies and their families are shown in different positions and situations, including at birth even in the operating room and after. You just can't get this synthesis of timeless information and images by searching the internet or in any other source. It's a great packaged deal where once you start reading you won't be able to stop. Here's one review "clearly put together with an intuitive and sensitive awareness of the information and encouragement every woman needs as she embarks on the journey of motherhood....I had tears in my eyes looking through some of the beautiful images." Here's what another satisfied mother had to say. "Not only a beautiful book but one of the most important books I have ever read. After weeks of incorrect latching and terrible pain I finally picked this book up and my husband read it to me page by page as I learned the correct (and pain-free!) way to feed my baby (yay for being Daddy friendly!!). It literally changed my life." –Heather Novak Click here to find out more http://www.thebreastfeedingbook.com
